901 | Jun. 10, 2004 Hello, I am researching the Test family and have found a Joseph L. Eddy born about 1821 in PA who married on September 24, 1843 in Jefferson County, IN to Rebecca S. Test born about 1822. On two census records I have children from this marriage to be (1) Clara and (2) Louis. At this time I have been unable to find any additional information about this family. Would you have this family in your book "The Eddy Family in America" 1930 Genealogy (1372 pages)? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Eddy served as a member of the Kansas State Board of Health in 1920. Dr. Murray C. Eddy began his education in his native state, and entered the University of Chicago for his advanced studies, taking his degree of Bachelor of Science from the University of Chicago in 1923. In 1926 he took his degree of Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College. He interned at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, and continued with a residency there from July 1926, to July 1927. 935 | Linda Wilbur - Member of Rootsweb List Eddy-L I am still searching to make EDDY family connections for my 3rd great-grandfather, Eli Eddy, born circa 1805 in NY. He married Lydia LANE before 1824, probably in NY. Lydia was born on or about 4 June, 1801 in NY. My Eli seems to have just evaporated, as he cannot be found in Michigan after his initial appearance in the 1850 census. The local graveyards have been thoroughly searched with no results. Fortunately, Eli's wife/widow and two of his daughters can be located in both the 1860 and 1870 censuses. Lydia Lane Eddy died 8 September, 1876 in Porter Twp., VanBuren Co., MI at the age of 75. Known children of Eli and Lydia are: 1. Timothy Eddy, born circa 1824/5 in NY 2. Betsey Ann Eddy, born on or about 3 December, 1827 in NY (m. Otis FULLER, eight children) 3. Eliza Jane Eddy, born on or about 3 July, 1833 in NY (m. 1. William B. Eddy, 2. Henry VanDerCook WEATHERWAX, 3. James Weatherwax) 4. Mary E. Eddy, born circa 1836 in NY This family first appears in the 1850 Federal Census for Porter Twp. Cass Co., MI. If this is indeed the same bunch enumerated in the 1840 Federal Census living next door to a Lane family in Clarkson Twp., Monroe Co., NY, there are two more sons in this family for whom I have neither names nor vital data. (Based on the age categories given in the 1840 enumeration, one would probably have been born between Timothy and Betsey Ann, the other between Betsey Ann and Eliza Jane.) An unusually large number of Eddy family members settled in western St. Joseph and eastern Cass Co., MI. Some are easily traceable to the main body of Eddy family research and others are not. Descendants of the children of my great-great grandmother, Eliza Jane Eddy, by her first husband, William B. Eddy, can easily trace their father's Eddy lineage, but not their mother's. Eliza Jane also had one son, Henry Andrew Weatherwax (1865-1942, married Lena Thompson NELSON,) by her second husband and a daughter, Ida Elizabeth Weatherwax (1869-1947, married ? BRUCE) by her third husband. Ida Weatherwax Bruce died without issue, but Henry Andrew Weatherwax fathered six children, of which four had issue. An added note of interest here: Mary Etta WING (1822-1853), the first wife of Henry VanDerCook Weatherwax, was the daughter of Josiah Wing and Elizabeth Eddy. The couple were married 1 April, 1840 in Porter Twp., Cass Co., MI "by Edwin S. Ferriss, Justice of the Peace". I have been working on solving this genealogical conundrum since early 1987 and admit to being thoroughly stonewalled. Several years ago, a gentleman tried to solve it, but he only confused the issue even more. Could my Eli possibly be the long lost son of Eliakim Eddy and Eunice Farrand? Data available as to Eunice's year of birth would pretty much render this impossible but for the fact that her other children are shown to have been born in the late 1790s. Obviously, the jury is still out... Needless to say, I would greatly appreciate all the assistance I can get with this extremely knotty genealogical problem! | Eddy, Eli (I76228)

937 | Local Preservation forces lose a longtime friend By Jane Lopes Editor Middleboro local historic preservationists lost a good friend earlier this month with the death of Sylvia Breck president emeritus of the Eddy Homestead Association. Mrs. Breck, 83, died on Jan. 13 at her Duxbury home with her family. She was the wife of Richard Winslow Jr., a descendant of Pilgrims Samuel and John Eddy, who settled in the section of Middleboro known locally Eddyville. Mrs. Breck and her husband were for many years involved in the preservation and maintenance of the historic Eddy Homestead, built in 1803 for Zachariah Eddy, a prominent local attorney, and his bride. The couple were guiding forces in ensuring that the homestead was preserved as a museum, open to the public during the summer months and the site for many years of the annual reunion of the Eddy family members. The Brecks were also active members of a local organization, Friends of Middleborough | Thorington, Sylvia (I49430)
