    William Bryce Eddy, 78, of Sycamore died Saturday, March 6, 1999,
    At Kishwaukee Community Hospital in Dekalb.
    He was born April 20, 1920, in Sycamore to William P. and Grace
    (Hemenway) Eddy. He married Caroline (Brendt) Coleman on July
    12, 1962 at the Federated Church in Sycamore.
    He was a musician and area orchestra leader and a postal employee
    From 1945 to 1975. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran
    Serving in the southwest Pacific, a lifetime member of Sycamore VFW,
    Lifetime member of American Federation of Musicians local 572,
    member of American Postal Workers Union, amateur radio operator
    and member and past president of Kishwaukee Amateur Radio Club,
    member of Sheriff

    William P. Eddy, 77, well known and very well liked resident of this community, where he
    had lived his entire life, died suddenly at his home, 122 North Cross Street, Wednesday following
    a heart attack. He had been in failing health for some time.

    He was born May 11, 1883 in Sycamore, son of John and Arvilla Harms Eddy. he attended the
    local schools and on June 3, 1916 was married in Genoa to Grace Hemenway, who died in 1957.

    Mr. Eddy was an interior decorator here for some 50 years. He also was employed part time in
    the former Wetzel Bros. Jewelry store in this city. He was active in musical circles and served
    as director of the local Schubert Orchestra, which was very popular many years ago. He also
    served as an alderman of the third ward for eight years. He was a member of the Federated Church.
    Mr. Eddy possessed many kindly traits of character and was liked and respected by all who knew
    him. He will be sorely missed by his family members and by a host of friends.

    Surviving are two sons, William Bryce and John L., both of Sycamore; two grandchildren; and a
    brother, Jack of this city.

    Final services are to be accorded this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Van Natta Funeral
    Home with Rev. H.L. Michael, pastor of the First Congregational Church at Lisle, officiating.
    Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

    John A. Eddy died at his home on Grant Street last Friday morning after an extended illness of
    heart disease. He had been a resident of Sycamore several years.

    The deceased was born in Dundee, NY. in July 1853, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Erasmus Eddy.
    The family became residents of this county when the son was 12 years old, locating first near
    New Lebanon. Next they moved to Dekalb where they lived five years. The remainder of the
    life of the deceased was spent in Sycamore.

    Mr. Eddy was united in marriage in 1875 to Arvilla Harmes who with four children survives.
    Erasmus E. of Sycamore, John Jr., and Mrs. F.A. Ford of Dekalb, and William of Los Angeles, Ca.
    A sister, Mrs. L.W. Oakley, lives in Sycamore.

    Mr. Eddy was a mason by trade, and followed his profession with success for many years.
    The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the late home, interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery.

    Mrs. John A. Eddy, 73, for 67 years a resident of Sycamore and well and favorably known,
    died suddenly at about 4:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of heart failure. She had returned
    only a few days before after spending much of the winter at the home of her daughter at
    Clifton Forge, VA., and had been in her usual good health up to a short time before her death.

    Mrs. Arvilla Harmes was born in Gramesville, NY., on April 13, 1857. When she was six years
    of age she accompanied her parents to Illinois. She had been a resident here ever since, all the
    time on the same lot on Grant Street of Sycamore. Here she grew to womanhood, and on
    Dec. 29, 1875, was united in marriage to John A. Eddy. He died on Dec. 23, 1907.

    Mrs. Eddy leaves surviving, three children: John A. Eddy, Sycamore; Adda M. Ford, Clinton
    Forge, VA.; and William P. Eddy, Sycamore, and four grandchildren. A son Erasmus died in 1918.
    She is also survived by three brothers: Ira, of NY.; George, of Montana; and William of Minnesota,
    and one sister, Lucy, of California, of the nine children born to their parents.

    Mrs. Eddy was a member of the Federated Church. She was a good mother and a kind friend and
    held in high esteem.

    The funeral service will be held at the home on Grant Street this Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock,
    Rev. Dr. Henry Scott Roblee, pastor of the Federated Church officiating. The interment will be at
    Elmwood Cemetery.
