    Joseph C. Eddy, 89, of Route 1, Newport, died Saturday at Harmar Place.
    Eddy was a farmer and raised cattle.

    He was born in Newport Township, a son of the late Amaziah and Alverda
    Noland Eddy.

    He is survived by his wife, Grace Smith Eddy; two sons, Benjamin G. Eddy of
    Lowell and Clifford Eddy of Friendly; two daughters, Anita Merritt of Fort
    Walton Beach, FL, and Mary Jo Barnette of Davisville; 14 grandchildren;
    eight step-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Isaac, and Con Eddy;
    and one sister, Philura Rowland.

    Services will be held at 1pm Tuesday at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in
    Marietta, OH. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.
